The State Of My Government Symposium (SOMGS) is intended to inform residents on how to use data and popular data visualization software to assess the spending and operational practices of their city governments. Participant learning outcomes for the SOMGS series include being able to evaluate how effectively one's elected officials and department heads are managing taxpayer funds and delivering public services using a variety of datasets from the City of Rancho Cordova. The first session will provide an orientation to the process of analyzing datasets. In the second and subsequent sessions, we will provide a more detailed, interactive introduction to the data visualization software and a schedule of when we will analyze specific datasets.
